GENESIS OF THE ORGANIZATION:

PRAHAR, a socio economic development non-government organization has started its journey with a group of enthusiastic and dynamic youth committed to work for the welfare of the society especially marginalized as well as underprivileged sections of the society. The initial activity of the organization was Health, Sports, cultural, Agricultural social & Human Rights sectors etc. The aim of the group is to form a society where everybody will be avail of basic amenities so as to live a dignified life irrespective of caste, creed, religion and race. Accordingly the group started activities with women, children, youth, elders, poor, and backward communities of the society.

PRAHAR established in 1991 to form a society where every people avails basic needs and services so as to have a life with self respect, dignity and pride. Our organization was formed by a group of educated, enthusiastic and committed people.

PRAHAR has been a key witness in organizing and participating actively the programmes for the United Nations. PRAHAR has successfully represent on all the occasions and attended both briefings and oral interventions focusing primarily on Global programmes on Human Rights, issues related to Indigenous people and Defenders programmes on Rights and responsibilities. Our General Secretary participated as observer at the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples at the United Nations Headquarters in New York for invitation of The President of the General Assembly, United Nations and also attended several side events. The Vice- President and General Secretary of Prahar highlighted several burning issues of our society and region as oral intervention to the Human Rights Councils for last couples of years at the United Nations Office of Geneva (UNOG).

We have also submitted written statements to the high level conferences titled 69th session of the General Assembly, to be known as the World Conference on Indigenous People, 59th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, 53rd session of Commission for Social Development, Human Rights Councils etc.
